I wrote this over a year ago, in September 2014.
I hope to get lost in the world around me.
To travel the seas that separate my house from my home.
I want the roads to echo the sounds of my body
Passing over them on my way between towns,
For the soft dirt paths to become the fossils of my footprints
Letting all who care to venture out to them know that I was there.
That I passed the very point at which they now stand
And continued on.
I wish to be a trail blazer.
To occupy the spaces that others dream of being.
The homes they've never owned and the sights they've never seen.
I wish to not be one of them.
To lust after a youth they cannot claim,
Memories they do not possess,
A coming-of-age that was less of a coming and more of a stagnant realization of "oh, it happened."
I shall take charge of my future by owning today.
I plan to be in motion.
To move about the spaces in which I settle,
To dance the divisions of the world,
And leap with good faith into the unknown.
There's no map for where I'm going.
I want to leave my world of structure
And enter one with no direction,
No itinerary,
No limits or preconceived ideas of where I should go next.
I hope to lose myself in the world
And to live alongside everyone else in my own wonderful interpretation of it.
